As an independent theater ensemble, we have been improvising in Berlin since 1997 and believe in the “philosophy” of improvisation: acceptance, trust, saying yes, flexibility, listening to and continuing the ideas of those playing with us, and we develop methods to sustainably anchor improvisation in social, intercultural, therapeutic, educational and community-promoting contexts. The result: many regular and constantly new projects dedicated to the further development and dissemination of our way of working. Impro has become a fundamental part of our artistic expression.
Today, we run Berlin's largest school for improvisation, where we give courses for amateurs and fellow actors all year round. We support companies and their employees with improvisation techniques and improvise business theater shows for company parties and conferences. We organize the largest European festival of this genre, the Berlin improv festival “IMPRO”, every year in March and produce international, EU-funded theater collaborations over several years. We use improv in educational and therapeutic settings, and of course continue to perform improvisational theater ourselves, as in the past - on stages in Berlin and Potsdam (approx. 230 performances annually), throughout Germany and Europe.
